Jun-Besi, a Sherpa village

Junbeshi is said to be pure Sherpa village of Solukhumbu, which is located in Solududhkunda Municipality ward No. 2. 'Jun' means the Moon and 'Beshi' means the lower part of village so it is believe that moon come down to the earth to rest that's why this village is called Junbeshi. Its elevation is 2700 Meter and this village is rich in Sherpa culture and one can enjoy the magical beauties of this village sitting quietly having a ship of butter tea or coffee under the cliff. Traveler have multiple choices in food and lodge during stay in Junbeshi. Food like apple pie, Potato pancake including fresh organic vegetable are available. Best time to visit Junbeshi is April to June where you can see village decorated with Rhododendron and if you plan to visit in fall season you will get opportunity to experience lots of Sherpa festival like Dumji under clear skies. Junbeshi is about 3 - 4 hours of walk from Sallari or Phaplu and by jeep you can reach with in a 45 minutes.  Nearest destination from here is Thupthenchholing Monastery which is 45 minutes of walk.
